My Most Anticipated May Releases
I am having a really hard time wrapping my head around the fact that April is over. I don't know if time is moving quickly in general, or if it's moving especially fast because we've been self-isolating for 8 weeks, but either way, the year is 1/3 of the way over! I love looking forward to new releases, and there are some books in May that I'm really excited about. Here are 5 books I'm looking forward to getting my paws on in the next few weeks!
By the Book: A Novel of Prose and Cons is all about a high school girl who looks to her favorite books for love advice. That's literally the extent of the summary that Goodreads gives me, and honestly, that's all I need to know.
Lady Hollis Brite is thrilled when she catches the attention of King Jameson; it's all she's been vying for, for as long as she can remember. But not long after their marriage and coronation, Hollis realizes that being a queen isn't all it's cracked up to be, and when she meets a mysterious commoner who can look into her heart, her future looks less and less like the one she's always imagined for herself.
Kiera Cass wrote The Selection series, which is one of my favorite "Junk Food Series," so I'm really excited to see what a new series from her will be like!
2 words: Sapphic Pirates. To earn the respect of the men aboard the Dove, and to ensure her survival, Flora becomes Florian. On the Dove, the crew prepares to sell their unsuspecting passengers into slavery, and Flora is drawn to the Lady Evelyn Hasegawa, who is en route to a dreaded arranged marriage with her own casket in tow. Flora doesn’t expect to be taken under Evelyn’s wing, and Evelyn doesn’t expect to find such a deep bond with the pirate Florian. I haven't read a whole lot of books with LGBTQ rep, and I want to amend that this year. Plus, I ordered the Fae Crate that will feature this book, so I have no excuse not to get to it soon!
Soraya is a princess who has been hidden away from everyone she knows, because her touch is poisonous. But on the day of her twin brothers' birthday, Soraya has to decide if she's ready to leave the shadows. And when she learns that a demon in the dungeon has the answers to her freedom, and a boy who isn't afraid of her deadly power, she begins to question who she is, and who she is becoming. This book also has LGBTQ rep, and that cover is just *chef's kiss.*
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. The only thing these two authors have in common is that they're both spending the summer in neighboring beach houses, trying to fight off their writers block. Then, they get a great idea; Augustus will pen a bestselling romance, and January will write the next Great American Novel. Everyone will finish their books, and absolutely no one will fall in love. I love romance, and I love summer, and I love the beach, so catch me devouring this in my backyard, sipping a margarita.
